I was born in California and grew up in Bern, Switzerland, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have lived in Switzerland for the last 25 years, and became a Swiss citizen in 2013.
I hold B.A. and M.A.R. degrees from Yale University, and teaching qualifications in maths and physics.

My chapter “Paul Geheeb and Nazi Germany: Progressive Education in the Age of Fascism” was included in Historians on Leadership and Strategy: Case Studies From Antiquity to Modernity (Springer, 2020). I have also been published extensively in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine.
